You can categorize photos by people, places, events etc. What makes KPhotoAlbum unique is its categorization process and time-based browsing. KPhotoAlbum is a photo management application primarily built for the KDE desktop environment. You can find it in the software center or pre-installed with the GNOME desktop environment in some distributions.įor Ubuntu-based distros, you can enter the following command in the terminal to get it installed: sudo apt install gthumb If you use GNOME or GNOME based desktop environments (like MATE), you should try this one out. You may check out the official gThumb feature list to know more. Image Editor: Basic photo editing operations, filters, format conversion etc.Web albums (Picasa, Flickr, Facebook etc) integration. Image Organizer: Organize photos with tags, catalogs and Libraries.Image Browser: All the basic browsing operations (thumbnails, move, copy, delete etc) and bookmarking support.Image Viewer: Supports all the major image format (including GIF) and metadata (EXIF, XMP etc).It includes all the basic photo management features as well as some editing and advanced operations. GThumb is a lightweight photo management application built mainly for the GNOME desktop environment. The list is in no particular order of ranking. All you need to do is open a terminal and run those, if you do not prefer the software center (or cannot find it there). We have primarily mentioned the installation commands for Ubuntu and its derivatives. That list contains image-related applications in general, such as editing, painting, etc., while this deals with only photo managing applications. This list of best photo management applications for Linux differs from our list of best photo applications for Linux. Whether you have a massive collection of photos or only a few of them, one of these options ought to suit your needs. It turns out, though not many, there are some superb applications for managing photo libraries available out there. Originally, one of our readers requested to make a list of decent Linux photo management software, something that could replace the now defunct Picasa on Linux. But often, there are only a few good options for a task. CR3 probably not. When it comes to Linux applications, there are so many choices and alternatives. If you image does not work with nufraw most likely it is a newer format the nufraw does not support. Old, temperamental and bits often do not work. When it comes to that nufraw Gimp plugin, it is like me. DT is close the program and it sends it to Gimp. To send to Gimp (memory a bit shaky with) RT there is some setup paths in the RT configuration. The sequence in Gimp is File -> Open Then RT or DT will open with the image. You should check in Edit -> Preferences -> Image Import & Export and if you installed both choose the one you want to use. Gimp 2.10 does include the necessary files to find either if installed. You might need to restart Windows after installation. They do not go anywhere near Gimp.Ĭheck that they work independent of Gimp and do open your raw image. Could be the limited resources of the Win10 VM I use but truthfully not worth the effort. I will check in my Win10 / Gimp 2.10.30 VM and see if I can 'borrow' Partha's nufraw, see if it works.Įdit: Got to open, but horribly slow, and ended up not-reponding. A shame the Gimp developers are hooked on them. To get the image back into Gimp, close DT/RT and that opens in Gimp as a 32 bit image.ĭT is quite large application RT a bit smaller, IMHO a bit over-the-top. That opens the image in DT/RT where you can also 'tweak' the image if you want. In Gimp open the RAW image same as any other. That is not working too well with Gimp 2.10.30, at least not mine, and the built in plugins that are provided link to either Darktable (DT) or RawTherapee (RT). There is a section in preferences Image Import & Export that you should check to see if it shows.Ĭhances are your Gimp 2.10.22 came from Partha and that version includes various extras including nufraw plugin, which personally I like. You just install, same as any separate application, one or the other. I have downloaded them.where do I put them? I am now using 2.10.30 and it doesn't have any but is telling me I can install RawTherapee or Darktable to open Raws (01-10-2022, 07:51 AM)sallyanne Wrote: The last gimp build I had 2.10.22 had a Raw editing Program already in it.
